Acupuncture has been practise in China for thousands of years for treating illnesses and promoting good health and longevity. Acupuncture was discovered by accident that from injuring certain parts of the body seem to promote healing effects to certain health conditions. Acupuncture meridians and acupuncture points were derived and developed through cumulative clinical practice. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture points have been used for both diagnostic and treatment purposes.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient medical therapy that provides treatment to a health condition by inserting fine needles on certain points on the body.

How does acupuncture work?

Medical theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine explain acupuncture works by inducing and manipulating a form of energy called Qi. The presence of Qi is vital to all living organisms. Qi travels in channel pathways known as meridians which distributed throughout the body.

However, scientific findings in Germany have shown that the concept of Qi may be similar or equivalent to a form of BIOELECTRIC CURRENT present in the body. This bio-electric current appears to have shared many similar characteristics to Qi and travels in the same pathways, formally identified by the Chinese as the meridians.

Qi promotes remarkable healing activities in the body. Clinical applications with acupuncture have shown that it induces following effects:

Improving blood circulation
Facilitating the removal of waste produced by muscle during exercises
Regulating digestion
Regulating hormone production
Regulating the balance of nervous system activities
Stimulating the immune function
Reducing stress and tension in the body
Improving energy and overall wellbeing inflammation
Calming the body and mind

Acupuncture: Diagnosis & Treatment

Traditional Chinese medical theories are used in the patient health assessment, analysing detail signs and symptoms and a "wholistic" treatment strategy is used in acupuncture treatment treating the health problem rather than one specific symptoms eg. headache.

Acupuncture: Aseptic Practice

In all acupuncture treatments, we use various types and lengths of DISPOSABLE (single use only) needles.

Prior to the insertion of acupuncture needle, we swab the skin with 70% alcohol cleansing swab to sterilize the skin. Our practitioners also wash their hands before, during and after acupuncture treatments to minimize and prevent any risk of cross infection between patients.

After every acupuncture treatment, all used acupuncture needles and any waste products that are contaminated with blood and bodily fluids are disposed into a special bio-hazardous waste containers for incineration.

Extra precautions are taken in patients with infectious diseases such as hepatitis C.
